Hello Sickness...

Maybe the hot tub was a bad idea for last night.

Allthough, I'm not completely sure if that is the reason why I'm sick now. I think my body is freaking out about the cold weather on top of the pollen in the air. It doesn't help that we have blooming trees surrounding our apartment, I'm sure that is what is helping my sickness along.

Allergies and a cold. Great.

Right now it's me and my bottle of Vicks 44.

What I learned today...

"Cars don't crap on the roads" - My inventing the modern world teacher, talking about the change from horse drawn carriages to automobiles.

Spring Break is over.

First day back to class and I nearly had a migrane. Thank goodness for my Relpax. That stuff really works, I caught my migrane starting at 7:30 am, and was good to go *(taco bell commercial hand motion goes here) by my 12:30 class. In the middle of class I did feel like I was going to hurl, but that could have been because it was linear algebra.

Break was good. May 12th really put things into perspective for me though. I think I realize why people think I'm a bit crazy when they find out I chase storms. Having an F3 tornado touch down about 7 miles from your house, 2 miles from your best friends house, and destroying someone's house that I know, really made me think about things. I'm not sure what my feelings would have been if I was home, but thinking back on it I think I would have been terrified. I mean I felt sick and thought I was going to have to pull over and throw up when my mom told me there was a tornado in Marshall. I may chase these things but I never want to see them destroy anything, that is defiantly NOT what it is about.

Another thing that has put things in perspective for me is something that happened yesterday. One of my best friends from high school lost a friend in a drunk driving accident. In my opinion it shouldn't be called an accident. Anyone that puts other people in danger by driving drunk really isn't asking for an accident, but a death wish. I feel sorry for her and what she has to deal with now. But this made me realize I have the best friends in the world both in Oklahoma and Missouri. None of my friends would let this happen to me, and I wouldn't let this happen to them. I am very grateful to have my friends and life would suck without them. Some of them I wish I talked to more often, but hey we all are busy. You all know who you are, and I love you guys!

Today is the first day of spring.
my activities today were:
1. class
2. grocery shopping
3. watching a storm blow in south of Norman (47 mph wind gust, freaking awesome!)
4. grilling
5. hot tubbing (in 47 degree wx)
6. spades
I love spring, but I love summer even more.

6 weeks till summer vacation!!!!!!!

Crazy Missouri Tornado Outbreak

So there were about 90 tornadoes in Missouri yesterday. All I can say is.. I should have gone home. Figures.

March 12, 2006 Storm Chase -- West of Tulsa Area

So today was fun! Woke up around 12:15, looked at the weather situation and decided we must head north. I love days that start out like that! We arrived in Stillwater around 2:30 and waited around for a bit. We decided to leave and go further east, thinking the storms would develop to our south and come up to us (not what we really wanted to happen, but at this point we were mad because NWS was saying storms to develop to our south, instead of the initial Stillwater area). So I started up the car and put it in drive, only to almost kill my car. Who the heck puts those bumper thingys in parking lots anymore!?!?! Anyway, my car survived driving over 1 and a half of them. UGH! We kinda drove around for a while and stopped in a valley to watch the clouds. They were trying to do their thing, but it still was a little early. (this is where the cow picture comes in) After about 30 minutes we spotted some cumulus growing rapidly to our northeast, and took off to catch it. We decided after about 15 minutes it was time to find a new storm. We stopped at another location and noticed another area of convection to our southwest. By the time we got to it, it was to our southeast. We basically watched the thing form from a baby storm to a big storm. :) Just sitting there for about an hour watching the storm really made the last 2 days of approx. 600 miles really worth it. :) However, I am looking forward to resting for a few days instead of driving around Oklahoma.

Maybe, the grass IS greener on the other side.

I really like pictures like these. So pretty!

We sat south of Stroud for about an hour watching this storm develop. I love watching storms form. :)

The Moon!

Lightening!

March 8, 2006 Storm Chase - Near Ardmore, OK

I thought this billboard was slightly amusing.

Chillin' outside of the Ardmore IHOP waiting for the storms to start up.

This is the back of the storm we drove through. It really made the trip worth it. Very pretty!

More pretty sky!
